FIRST PRACTICE is Tuesday, December 2. The season runs through April.

Open practices are held for the first few weeks so players new to rugby and the club can try it before committing.

Practice Days and Times
U6 – U8: Thursdays, 6:00pm – 7:00pm
U8 – U14: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 pm – 7:30/8:00 pm
Girls: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 pm – 7:30/8:00 pm
HS Boys: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Youth tournaments are held on Saturdays. Up to three matches are played, and they are usually over by 3:00 p.m. Each club erects a mini-tent city. Families bring tents, chairs, snacks, lunch, and drinks. There is not a lot of downtime between matches.

High School matches are played mostly on Saturday mornings. There may be a few Friday night matches.

High School player's kit included in club fee (training shirt, shorts, socks, and backpack).

Youth players' kit included in club fee (training shirt, match jersey, shorts, sock, and cinch sack).

State and national memberships are not included in the fees listed in the chart. USA Rugby membership is explained here.

What to bring to rugby practice:

Mouth Guard – Required for all practices and games.

Cleats – Rugby or soccer cleats with individual studs (no baseball-style blades or top toe cleat).

Large Water Bottle

Optional Gear – Scrum caps, shoulder pads, and torso guards are available but not required.

What NOT to wear at rugby practice:
-
No shorts with pockets – Fingers get caught and injured. Wear rugby shorts or pocket-free athletic shorts.

No hooded sweatshirts during contact – Hoods get pulled, create choking hazards. Base layers or rugby jerseys are better.

No football or baseball cleats with toe studs – Rugby boots do not have a front toe or blade cleats. Toe studs are dangerous in rucks and scrums.

Rugby Xplorer will automatically place the player by birth year onto a team. However, coaches can move players based on age, size, and experience.
