The Barbarians Rugby Club is dedicated to introducing, developing, and promoting youth rugby from pre-K through high school across the Katy and greater Houston area. For more than 20 years, our mission has remained the same: to build skills, character, and a lifelong love of the game.
Now in our second season as the Barbarians Rugby Club, our new name and logo reflect an evolving and more inclusive identity. As the club has grown beyond Katy, the Barbarians name better represents our unified community of players, coaches, and families—one club, one culture.
The Celtic shield knot in our logo symbolizes family, unity, and protection—values that define who we are and how we support one another on and off the field.
We remain committed to rugby excellence by providing a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for players of all levels while advancing competitive rugby in Texas and beyond. All coaches are dedicated volunteers, World Rugby Level 1 certified, and SafeSport trained, with player safety as our top priority.
Families are a vital part of the Horde. Through volunteering, supporting matches, and encouraging their athletes, parents help strengthen the community that makes the Barbarians more than just a rugby club.

GARETH JONES (1986 – 2005)
"Gareth was a LEGEND. I was an awkward Freshman in 2005 and struggled to express myself. He took me under his wing and brought me into the fold with the cooler, older guys on the team. He was the first teammate to make me believe in myself, and he made me believe I could have a place on the Varsity team even though I was younger than everybody else."
